Thiruppavai – 25
Raga: Behag, Adi

O lord who took birth in anonymity as Devaki’s child and
Overnight grew up incognito as Yasoda’s Child
You who upset the despot king kamsa’s plans and
kindled fire in his bowels.
We have come beseeching, grant us our desire
We will rejoice singing in praise of your prosperity
that befits your spouse; your prowess.
that we may end our sorrow and rejoice.

[ Picture shows – Krishna was born in prison as the son of Devaki and Vasudeva. Miraculously, the prison doors opened and let Vasudeva take the infant across the swollen Yamuna river in the dead of the night, to the house of Yasodha and Nandagopala where the child grew up. Kamsa tried many ways to kill Krishna but everytime the child destroyed his foes. One day Krishna and his foster brother Balarama entered Mathura and killed Kamsa, ending the tyrant king’s rule of terror over the innocent folk. Andal recalls this seeking the grace of Krishna for their boons]
