திருப்பாவை – 28

சிறிய பெயரால் உன்னை அழைத்ததால் எங்களைக் கோபிக்காது, எங்கள் விருப்பத்தைப் பூர்த்தி செய்வாயாக!

காம்போஜி ராகம், ஆதி தாளம்.

கறவைகள் பின்சென்று கானம் சேர்ந்துண்போம்;
அறிவொன்று மில்லாத ஆய்க்குலத்து உன்தன்மைப்
பிறவிப் பெறுந்தனைப் புண்ணியம் யாம் உடையோம்;
குறைவொன்று மில்லாத கோவிந்தா! உன்தன்னோடு
உறவேல் நமக்கு இங்கு ஒழிக்க ஒழியாது!
அறியாத பிள்ளைகளோம் அன்பினால் உன்தன்னைச்
சிறுபேர ழைத்தனவும் சீறி யருளாதே,
இறைவா, நீ தாராய் பறையேலோ ரெம்பாவாய்.

பசுக்களை மேய்த்து, காடு சென்று, அங்கு ஒன்று கூடி உண்போம்.
அறிவொன்றும் இல்லாத மாடுமேய்க்கும் குலத்தில் பிறந்த நாங்கள்
உன்னை எங்களுடன் குலத்தவனாக பாவிக்கும் புண்ணியத்தைச் செய்துள்ளோம்
எந்தக் குறையும் இல்லாத கோவிந்தா!
நமக்குள் உண்டான உறவு, உன்னாலோ, எங்களாலோ ஒழிக்க முடியாதது
அறிவற்ற சிறு பிள்ளைகள் நாங்கள்,
அன்பால் அழைத்தைப் பொறுத்துக் கோபம் கொள்ளாமல்
எங்களுக்கு வேண்டியதை நீதான் கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.

Let us follow the cows into the forest and eat together while they graze.
we are privileged to have you born among us simple cowherd-folk
O faultless Govinda!. Our bond with you is eternal.
Artless children that we are, out of love we call you pretty names;
pray do not be angry with us. O lord grant us our boons.

[ Picture shows – Krishna is accessible to all and the girls set out with him for a picnic in the forest. While enjoying their relationship with him as a member of the cowherd clan. Andal is reminded of the fact that he is, nonetheless, the lord, and tenders her apology for reducing his universal status. She then asks from him, in his exalted status as the lord of the universe, the boons. ( But had he not already given them their boons and all the riches that came through singing with it?) ]
